These special markings have valuable use to us. It is used in different fields like fire. Fire is one incidence that could threaten our safety. Because of this, different markings were made to direct people on where to go in case of fire. Since, panic can seriously happy in times of destructive fire; exit signs were made to label the different doors leading to staircases.

1. The letters should be big enough to be seen even from afar. They should be clearly written and as much as possible should be in Block letters.

2. On top of that, they should have bright colors on the background of the text. The color should be flashy enough to be noticed.

3. It can be either red or green depending on the building codes. Therefore, make sure you follow the regulations given.

4. It does not eat up too much of the electricity just for illumination.

There are also different designs applied in making an exit sign. These are:

1. Incandescent light bulb- this illuminates the marking on the glass cover.

2. Battery Back-up- It works with energy source from main power but when black out happens, it can be lit through the use of batteries.

3. Pictograms- instead of the block letters "EXIT"; a picture of a man running is used. It may or may not have illumination.

4. Self-illuminating- it does not rely on the main power or battery for illuminating the sign. It makes use of tritium in small amounts.
